Think of this as both an announcement and a reason for why I’ve been radio silent on the mail-waves: I’ve been busy developing and doing interviews for a new podcast!

Everybody in the Pool is live now! It’s a podcast about climate solutions that will try to answer the question that motivated me to start covering this topic as a journalist: “who’s working on this?” I’ll be interviewing startup founders, climate innovators and investors, business leaders, and everyday people who are pivoting into climate careers (like I did, come to think of it).

I’m thrilled to be working with a phenomenal engineer, Robyn Edgar, who I was lucky enough to collaborate with at Marketplace. She is so talented and hilarious and will help me make a show that actually sounds good and is full of audio pool puns.

Fundamentally, my goal is to make a show that makes this topic accessible and hopeful, not depressing and overwhelming. The climate crisis is the singular story of our time; it’s the biggest business story in the world, and an opportunity to build a completely new economy. This is the industrial revolution and the Internet age all in one; we have the chance to reinvent everything right now.

Get fired up! If we pull this off, not only will we save countless lives (human, animal, and plant) and infrastructure and trillions of dollars in global GDP, we actually make life better! We could live in a world with cleaner air, cleaner water, whisper-quiet roads and highways, quiet skies full of hydrogen airplanes, and fewer microplastics re-writing our DNA. It’s not just about ensuring a future, it’s about creating a better one.
