Introducing Molly Wood Media

I'm dialing up my efforts to support a climate solutions ecosystem. There's no time for anything else.

This week, the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change issued its first comprehensive climate report since 2015 and it is unsparing. We will almost certainly cross the 1.5-degree Celsius global warming threshold in less than a decade, without a massive acceleration in efforts to limit carbon emissions. 

The UN Secretary-General called the latest report a “survival guide for humanity,” and called for every effort, everywhere, all at once. Or, as I like to say, everybody in the pool.

So let’s go. At long last, I’m becoming a founder, too. 

I’m forming a new company called Molly Wood Media, where I’ll be podcasting, writing, speaking, angel investing, consulting, and advising startups and venture capital firms, including as a venture partner with Amasia (see the About page for more).

What catalyzed the launch of MWM? Well, just as I began investing, I realized as I never had before that the need for climate storytelling has skyrocketed.  

This need exists across all fronts, in fact: inside big companies, inside startups, inside global finance, for consumers, and even within climate-focused funds and companies and organizations (and sometimes especially there).

Storytelling is MWM’s superpower (this is how founders talk!). I’ve got new podcast projects in the works, and I’m talking with several companies about helping them translate their tech, their mission, and their place in what I’m calling the solutions ecosystem. 

I hope that part of this storytelling opportunity is to help break the planet-sized idea of the “climate crisis” into component parts that we can get our heads around — that’s part of what this newsletter will do (and yes, I’ll be turning on paid subscriptions soon, but Bits and Bobs will always be free to read!).

Finally, I’ve discovered I love investing. I am excited to remain a part of this ecosystem through partnerships with all kinds of firms and as an angel investor.
